Key processes of aging have been elegantly described as the “Hallmarks of aging”.
It is easy to describe the physical manifestations of aging - the appearance of wrinkles, stiffening of joints, muscle weakness, memory loss. But what causes these changes to occur? Currently there are many different competing and overlapping theories for why we age. However, whilst we may not have a complete understanding, the results of decades of research have highlighted some key processes that when targeted are able to reverse or slow down features of aging. These key processes have been elegantly described as the “Hallmarks of aging”. In total, there are 9 different hallmarks and, in this video, you will get an introduction to each of them and learn how they are connected to the aging process.
