The NF-KB pathway is a key pathway involved in regulating the activation and response of inflammation.
Inflammatory signalling has useful functions within the body. It is used to activate the immune response in response against infections and also for repairing damage, however, chronic inflammation is associated with aging and different age-associated diseases. A key pathway involved in regulating the activation and response of inflammation is the NF-KB pathway. The key player of this pathway, NF-KB, was identified in the 1980s and since then we have come a long way in understanding how this pathway is activated and how it then results in upregulation of inflammation. In this video we will introduce this pathway, look at its associations with aging and age-associated diseases and question whether intervening in this pathway is beneficial or even possible.
